Disney100 Princess events: Minecraft, Legos, and tons of merch

Jun 11, 2023

New Loungefly bags? Check. A meditation for the Calm app narrated by Moana? Check. Lego Princesses teaming up? Check. All this and much (much, much) more is on the calendar for Disney100 Princess celebrations throughout August.

Disney100, also called “100 Years of Wonder,” is ramping up as The Walt Disney Company approaches its official centennial on Oct. 16, 2023.

Throughout the month of August, Disney is celebrating “The Wonder of Disney Princess.” Princess fans can join in on the celebration from home by watching a new animated special on Disney+, downloading mindfulness audio tracks narrated by Disney Princesses, sporting some trendy new merch, and more.

It’s like Avengers, Disney Princess style, but with Legos, and animated. “Lego Disney Princess: The Castle Quest” assembles Snow White, Ariel, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Moana for a new animated special debuting Aug. 18, 2023, on Disney+.

According to Disney, the Princesses “set off on an adventure when they are each unexpectedly transported to a mysterious castle. The Princess characters work together to solve challenges hidden deep within the castle walls and try to save their kingdoms.”

Disney did not mention if any of the Princesses’ original voice talent will reprise their roles (for what it’s worth, IMDb lists a few familiar names among its cast credits, including Anika Noni Rose as Tiana.)

Previous animated Lego specials have starred characters from “Star Wars” and “Frozen.”

Disney will take part in its annual World Princess Week celebrations Aug. 20-26, 2023. Throughout the week, the Disney Parks Blog will post “updates, exclusive content, and heartwarming stories from some of the biggest fans of the Disney Princess characters.”

Also during World Princess Week, Walt Disney World will host the “Once Upon a Wish Party,” a very special event for invited families from Make-A-Wish and other organizations.

With the help of favorite Disney Princesses, your kids can beat the back-to-school blues. Calm has partnered with Disney to debut new audio experiences within the Calm app in an effort to encourage practicing mindfulness and heading back to school with confidence.

Gamers can discover new ways to adventure with iconic Disney Princesses through updates to favorite gaming titles.

Throughout August, players of Disney Emoji Blitz can earn the Platinum Tiana Emoji by completing the Courage and Kindness Token Quest.

Later this month, Minecraft Disney Worlds of Adventure will launch with Snow White, Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine.

“Soon,” Disney Speedstorm will welcome Jasmine to its roster of racers. The royalty of Agrabah joins fellow Princesses Belle and Mulan who are existing playable characters.

In September, Disney Dreamlight Valley will add Belle to its ensemble, along with a new “Beauty and the Beast” playable realm, as part of its next free update.

“Mirrorverse: Pure of Heart” ($18.99), now available, is a new book by Delilah Dawson. It’s inspired by the popular Disney Mirrorverse mobile game. Disney describes the mystical Mirrorverse as a place “where mirrored reflections of beloved Disney and Pixar characters are amplified and transformed, becoming battle-ready Guardians that must unite to defeat a powerful evil that threatens their home worlds and beyond.” Snow White stars in “Pure of Heart,” wielding a battle axe on the book’s front cover. Heigh-ho!

From toys and drinkware to books and apparel, Disney released a vast selection of new Princess-themed merchandise within the past month or so (with lots more on the way, as we’ll see in a moment).

The following products are now available:

Aurora and her woodland friends appear on a new Loungefly mini-backback ($80) and Loungefly wristlet wallet ($50). Both items have lenticular artwork.

Tiana appears on a new green Spirit Jersey for adults ($79.99). The front has lily pads and reads, “Princess Tiana.” The back has Tiana herself and says, “Love what you do … do what you love.”

A short-sleeved white Spirit Jersey ($79.99) features Jasmine in a watercolor-like design. The back reads, “Unlock the magic.”

Platinum finishes glimmer on new Disney100 kids’ dresses ($19.99 each) from Jakks Pacific. Sized 4-6x, the dresses recreate the looks of Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Tiana, and Rapunzel.

The “Brave and Brilliant” Disney100 four-cup set from Corkcicle ($139.95) features sketch artwork of Snow White, Mulan, Tiana, and Elsa.

Individual Corkcicle cups ($34.95 each) in similar styles are available for Snow White, Mulan, and Tiana.

Tiana also has her own Corkcicle tumbler ($37.95), too.

The Disney Castle Lego set ($399.99) has over 4,800 pieces.

The ongoing “ily 4EVER” doll collections imagine princess-inspired modern wardrobe. New fashion packs ($14.99 each) inspired by Belle, Jasmine, Merida, and Moana fit any 11″ ily 4EVER doll. The dolls themselves are sold separately from the fashion packs.

Belle, Jasmine, and Rapunzel have joined the legacy of American Girl dolls ($300 each). With over 100 Swarovski crystals, the dolls are limited edition (no more than 4,000 each).

Disney Story Dolls ($29.99 each) are unique in that their packaging doubles as a coloring and activity craft. The lineup features familiar Princesses and heroines alike: Snow White, Cinderella, Tinker Bell, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Rapunzel, Tiana, Elsa, Anna, Moana, Raya, and Mirabel. Each doll comes with accessories and an additional outfit.

A new musical jewelry box ($29.99) comes with a ring, and plays an instrumental of “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” from “Cinderella.”

Much more Disney Princess merchandise is on the way in the coming weeks and months.

New dresses from Janie and Jack ($139 each, Aug. 14, 2023) will run in sizes 6M – 12 yrs and celebrate Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Tiana, and Rapunzel. Accessories will be available separately.

Mattel’s Disney Collector Radiance Collection will add Belle ($75, Aug. 18, 2023), with Aurora and Jasmine following later this year.

Kids can imagine their own culinary adventures in a gourmet kitchen play set ($199.99, Sept. 17, 2023) from Jakks Pacific.

“A Twisted Tale Anthology” ($18.99, Oct. 3, 2023) will bring together 16 short stories in the style of Disney’s popular “Twisted Tale” novels. Each story imagines an alternate narrative set into motion by a slight difference to a Disney tale as we know it. This new collection poses Disney Princess hypotheses like “What if Snow White learned magic?,” but also goes beyond the Princess fold with queries like “What if Remy from ‘Ratatouille’ met Collette first instead of Linguini?” The book’s other tales feature characters from “The Princess and the Frog,” “Treasure Planet,” and more.

“The Queen’s Council: Realm of Wonders” ($17.99, Oct. 10, 2023) by Alexandra Monir will be the next installment in a book series that continues the Princesses’ journeys in growing up and ruling their kingdoms. This story, which stars Jasmine, has this tagline: “A whole new world, a chance to rule it.”

Two new Disney Collector 100 Years of Wonder dolls ($45 each) from Mattel celebrate Tiana (shipping on or before Nov. 3, 2023) and Cinderella (shipping on or before Dec. 1, 2023).
