Legendary singer Elton John slipped over inside his sprawling villa in Nice, France late last night and was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries

Elton John has been rushed to hospital after he suffered injuries following a fall in his villa in Nice, France. The legendary 76-year-old musician was taken to hospital after the incident late on Sunday night.

He was rushed to the orthopaedic department of the Princess Grace hospital in Monaco, his team tell The Mirror. Sir Elton received 'checkups' from medical professionals after the slip at his lavish mansion in the south of France.

The Tiny Dancer hitmaker is now thought to be recovering at home after being discharged from the hospital on Monday morning. A representative for Elton confirmed the ordeal in a newly released statement, saying he suffered a 'slip'.

"We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure," they told The Mirror.

Giving an update on the musician's current health, they added: "Following check ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health."

It comes just days after Elton threw a star-studded bash on a £21m superyacht with multiple A-listers in tow. The Rocket Man singer invited plenty of well-known stars such as husband David Furnish, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Susannah Constantine and David Walliams.

The guests soaked up the St Tropez sun as they received top-class treatment from the yacht crew. Elton looked as trendy as ever as he dressed head to toe in Gucci with a floral shirt, shorts and white trainers. He accessorised with dark sunglasses, gold earrings and a pearl-encrusted crucifix necklace.

Sir Elton was also joined by his sons Zachary, 12, and Elijah, ten, as they set sail. Meanwhile, comedian David Walliams wore an unbuttoned black shirt as he arrived alongside the other guests. The huge yacht sleeps 18 guests in eight fancy bedrooms which all have their own en-suite. It also has a 50-inch plasma screen TV, library, and a top-of-the-range gym.

He was enjoying some relaxation time after retiring from performing after his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in July. The tour which started in 2018 managed to gross £649,131,280 worldwide. However, he is now choosing to spend some more time with his husband and their children, despite saying he might play the 'odd show'.

Speaking about how much his children mean to him on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2016, he said: "If you'd had said to me ten years ago I'd be sitting on your show married to the man I love and have two beautiful children I would have said, 'You put acid in my drink'.

"But life throws you challenges and life throws you curveballs — great curveballs — and these two children have come along at a time I never thought I'd have children. There's no words to describe how much we love these boys. They're just amazing."
